Creating a Course on the Basics of International Employment: A Case Study of the MGIMO Career Center

Abstract

Introduction. Issues of international careers, despite their extreme relevance, are practically out of sight for universities. Meanwhile, interest in international employment among students and graduates is growing, forming a demand to fill the knowledge gap on the subject of international employment. The MGIMO career center has created an online course “Basics of International Employment,” allowing participants to get answers to the main questions about shaping an international career path.

Purpose. To analyze “Fundamentals of International Employment” online course, its dynamics, and feedback from students in order to create mechanisms for optimizing the employment of graduates abroad.

Materials and Methods. The research methodology included collecting requests from students, a step-by-step description of the stages of preparing and implementing an online course, as well as a detailed analysis of the results of the questionnaire. The study design is based on the case study.

Results.

Results. The case study analysis recorded the participants’ satisfaction with the course content and technical solution, as well as the correspondence of expectations to the knowledge gained. The author made conclusions about the possible replication of the course preparation mechanics, which includes writing the program, searching for speakers, informing participants.

Conclusion. The results obtained can be used to solve problems of professional orientation of university students through online courses, as well as to further develop the topics of the international career of young professionals in the context of both the educational process and business tasks.
